MAYBE, YOU CAN FOOL THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME

June 23, 20011

The next presidential election is about a year and a half away, in November 2012, yet about a dozen republican men and woman are already aspiring for the position, but none of them have any plan or real idea on how to fix our sagging economy.

During the last election of 2008, most Americans are sick of the actions of republican president Bush and the republican congress after eight years of cowboy tactics and two unnecessary costly wars.  They put their faith and trust in a democratic president, Barack Obama and a democratic congress in the hope and promise of real change and help to the American people, suffering from a worsening economy and eight trillion dollars of debt amassed in eight years from a surplus left to them.

Instead, president Obama and the democratic congress were content to have the power of the office, and feasted at the political trough with pork barrel projects and political tactics design to help the Democratic Party and not the American people, now desperately crying out for the needed help in two short years, the economy worsened.  Unemployment doubled and deficit spending added another six to seven trillion dollars to the National debt.  This is putting the country close to the brink of bankruptcy, with rising prices and the dollar's value and respect shrinking.  The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Obama promised to end were expanded instead with our brave American servicemen dying in record numbers in Afghanistan chasing about a hundred terrorists who strike and run back to safety in Pakistan.  This war there has lasted ten years with no hope in winning or ending while our troops act more like targets for the elusive enemy, day after day, instead of their fighting force they were trained to be.

The Federal congressional election of 2010 has sent a clear message to president Obama and the democratic congress of their disappointment and disgust by handing control of the house to a republican majority in the hope and promise to fix the economy and put Americans back to work.  Unfortunately, for the next year and a half, the republican members and their party has concentrated their efforts to embarrassing and defeating president Obama in 2012 rather than helping the serious and worsening plight the American people find themselves.

After ten and a half years of mismanagement of the American government by our political parties and members who separately have combined to destroy the American economy and American jobs, while bankrupting our country, doesn't it seem obvious that putting a democrat or republican majority in the White House or congress is a waste of time and another prescription for failure.

There is no question but something drastic must be done to get our office holders in Washington to help the American economy and put Americans back to work in the good paying permanent jobs which were lost to the overseas cheap labor markets.  President Obama has said, "These jobs are lost forever," while he and the democrats cater to the labor unions for support and money.  In contrast, the republicans cater to big business who need to escape from the high cost of labor and its unions who have traditionally had a strangle hold on business and who were rendered non competitive with foreign goods.  As if that was not enough, our Washington politicians have also sold out to drug companies for re-election each time, so they turn a blind eye to the high drug and oil prices, which are also crippling our economy.

President George Washington said it well, when he left office after eight years in 1783, "Beware of political parties."  Political parties in the operation of our government when they should be limited to elections only and have no place in government...what he warned us about, has become true and not the American people, as it should be.

Abraham Lincoln said it well when he remarked, "You can fool the people some of the time, but you cannot fool the people all of the time."

In the next election of 2012, the American people need to decide who were right, Washington and Lincoln, or our politicians and political parties.  President Washington, in his actions and deeds, fought for our freedom and left us a country we can be proud of, Lincoln, preserved our union from division and slavery.

If the American people decide to keep the power of political parties in our government, then, they can expect more of the same bickering, lockstep voting controlled by the political parties and a tug of war between the parties at the expense of the need of the American people.  If they decide on the principles of two of our greatest presidents, Washington and Lincoln, then they will eliminate the power and control of political parties in government by casting out the members of congress and the presidency and elect independent candidates for office, whom will be answerable to the American people as they should.

Flag Day, should have special meaning to
Americans, in 2011.

Written on:  June 14, 2011

Today is Flag Day, our American symbol of freedom and independence.   It is a day which should remind us of the battles for freedom that our forefathers fought and died for to establish this unique country, based on the principle that all persons should be free to decide their own destiny.

Throughout the years, our  freedom has been challenged and tested, but has survived because all Americans know what it means to be free and are willing to accept every challenge and even die, so all Americans can remain free to enjoy a way of life that has become the envy of all the world.

That is why, you see the American flag displayed and carried into every battle, as a symbol of American freedom, starting with our national anthem, born out of a test of that freedom in battle when as the dawn broke, our flag was still flying there in victory.  Who does not have goose bumps when they hear our famous national anthem, or salute our flag as it passes, in respect of this symbol of freedom for all Americans?

Our flag is proudly displayed at our homes and on every public American building, throughout the world, as a bastion of freedom for everyone who seeks their freedom from bondage and fear.

Even today and every day, American serviceman are fighting and dying, in defense of that challenge to our freedom and way of life.  Some are seriously wounded but come home, happy to have been of service and content, only resume their lives as free Americans.

However, the sad fact is that most recently discharged American servicemen, including especially those wounded both physically and mentally, have a real problem finding decent jobs, so they may resume the lives they left to fight for us.  With the American economy suffering and worsening by the day, and national unemployment reaching epidemic proportions, a crisis has developed for them, graduating students from high school and colleges and also for the average working American struggling to "get by" with rising prices.  While unemployment benefits end and wages and jobs decline Americans find it increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to feed their families.

Today, Americans find themselves at war with their political leaders in government, who are both unwilling and unable to solve our economic problems which have lasted for nearly five years now.  The fact is that each political party and members are at war with each other, while the innocent victims are the American people who continue to suffer without solutions, for problems caused by our political leaders, in the first place, this war between the political parties, is not new, but has become progressively worse.  Instead of coming together, in this hour of need, each party has decided it must spend all its energy to destroy the other.

It is bad enough that we must combat our enemies throughout the world, we have a bigger problem, here at home fighting with our, "do nothing politicians in Washington".

The American people have tried to solve this problem by swapping control of our government from one political party to another, (democrats and republicans) without success.  In fact, the results end up worse than before for the last nearly five years.  Now they realize, neither political party cares about the American people but only their own political power.  This is, as un-American as traitors in our midsts and must be stopped.

The time has come to fire every incumbent office holder in Washington, so this country can start with a clean slate of office holders. Who care and work for the American people exclusively and not any political party.  That is the reason why Americans should never again elect either a democrat or republican to office, but an independent candidate.  As the only sensible choice to end this constant bickering in Washington and to focus entirely and solely to the dire needs of the American people whose suffering must end.

This flag day and every day, let the American flag be the symbol of the independence and freedom of the American people to choose candidates who are really independent and free from party politics and dependent only on the trust and confidence of the American people who elect them to office to do the bidding of the American people and no one else.

THE CASE AGAINST NEW YORK CONGRESSMAN, ANTHONY WEINER (D) NY

AND THE DEFENSE OF THE LOWLY AMERICAN HOT DOG

June 6, 2011

Today, after photos of a near nude Weiner (D) NY were published for everyone to see, congressman Weiner (D) NY finally had to admit he had been lying about the face book incident all the time.  He had to publically admit he sent the photos to at least six women he had befriended over the last three years, and had continued this shameful action even after his recent marriage, thankfully to a innocent and trusting woman.

This man not only has no respect for his wife, he has been publicly deceitful to his constituents and to the American people, maybe a common trait amongst many office holders these days, but an affront to the American people who expect a better performance from the congressmen they elect.

I realize the congressman has been the butt of many jokes, because of his name, being connected to the lowly hot dog, but the similarity certainly ends there.  The lowly hot dog may be made up of questionable, but edible ingredients, but in any event, thanks to hot dog venders such as Nathans, in new York, Joe and Emo’s in Boston and Oscar Meyer, it has been elevated to a very popular position in the food chain, while Anthony Weiner (D) NY has now been assigned to the lowly position of a sleazy human being, never to be trusted again by anyone but his mother.

I understand the Oscar Meyer company is seriously considering suing Weiner (D) NY while cancelling its nationwide ditty, “I’d like to be an Oscar Meyer Weiner”, because of the Weiner (D) NY alignment of their wiener.

How a member of congress, at a time like this, with a crashed economy and 15 million unemployed and hopeless Americans can act like a sex crazed teenager is beyond comprehension.

Anthony Weiner (D) NY says, in spite of his childish antics, he will not resign as a congressman.  This is just another example of the type of congressmen we have the misfortune to elect, they are selfishly, brazen and  only interested in their own agenda of power and undue influence, rather than the needs of their constituents and the American people in this hour of desperate need in this country.

My advice to congressman Anthony Weiner (D) NY is to resign his position of congressman, immediately, before he does more harm and damage, to his marriage and to the reputation of our remaining politicians in Washington.

Then, he should crawl back under that rock from which he came and stay there, before further damage is done to the reputation of the lowly but ever popular American hot dog, one of our national symbols.

THE NATIONAL DEBT IS TOO HIGH, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

June 2, 2011

Today, president Obama met with a large group of republican leaders in congress, to try to reach an agreement to increase the national debt from 14 trillion to about 17 trillion dollars, something the American people are against.

When President Clinton left office in 2000, the treasury had a surplus of nearly a trillion dollars.  And the country was living within its means with a balanced budget.

During the eight year republican Bush administration, he and the republican congress managed to spend nearly 9 trillion dollars more than the country took in, mainly because of the nearly trillion dollar a year tax cut for the rich, while failing to reduce the yearly national budget, especially after the surplus was spent and a deficit of more than a trillion a year resulted.     Not one republican complained about that situation for eight long years while the country fell into the worst recession since the 1930's.

When the democratic president Obama took office on the promise of "can do" and "yes we can" America's hope were high, believing this glib and sweet talking handsome young man, could turn the economy around, stop the home foreclosures and put Americans back to work quickly, which was needed.

Instead, as unemployment quickly doubled and foreclosures tripled, he and the newly elected democratic congress chose to continue to help banks and financial institutions, the auto and insurance industry, while congress passed a trillion dollar stimulus package full of congressional pork barrel projects that gave only temporary help to public employees and cities, towns and states.

Within a two year period, the Obama administration added another six trillion dollars to the national debt while increasing the yearly budget deficit spending to 1.3 trillion dollars never in the history of this country has its debt and deficit spending been so high, without any real improvement to our economy and improvement for our unemployed.

The sad fact is this country is in serious economic and financial trouble and neither the democrats nor the republicans have any real plan to solve the problem.

President Obama's decision to allow the democratic congress to extend the eight long failure of the tax break for the rich for the next two years was both political and tragic.  Here was the trillion dollars needed to help balance the yearly budget and he wasted it on purely political grounds, to try to help his re-election efforts in 2012.

No sooner had the republicans gained control of the house and their focus was to attack Medicare and Medicaid, funds, the poor and retired middle class depend upon to survive, daily.

Now, for the last six months, both parties in power in Washington have tried to find an agreeable solution to reduce the budget and national debt and, thus far, have come up with nickel and dime cuts that are tokens at best. While leaving the budget cuts so small, the yearly budget will not be balanced for at least twelve years, while the national debt increases another six trillion dollars.  Neither plan is acceptable to the American people who want the budget balance this year along with other cuts to reduce the national debt.  With inflation and the resulting increase in consumer prices hurting everyone's pocketbook, the budget and debt must be reduced now because any increase, in the national debt at this time, will cause higher inflation and consumer prices, less money available in the national budget, reduce the hopes of any recovery and maybe, the survival of this country as we have known it.

This is why, it is vital to the survival of our country for our representatives in Washington, not to vote for any increase of the national debt, period.  Our politicians in Washington want to increase the national debt to postpone the inevitable destruction of our country's financial system if these cuts are not made this year, so, in the meantime they will all be assured their re-election, for putting this country in the financial debt and morass we find ourselves, stuck with the debt they ran up at our expense.

Every American should contact their congressperson and president and let them know you are against any increase in the debt under any circumstance, since it is time now to face up to their responsibility to stop any further increases in our debt by balancing our national budget this year and every year.  Also they must cut the budget enough or increase income to reduce the national debt each year significantly, for the next ten years, so we do not pass our debts to our children and grandchildren in the future.    Enough is enough; it is now time to pay our debts, which are our responsibility and not someone else's.  If the American people do not act now, they have no right to complain in the future.  By then, it will be too late!
